Motions & Emotions Filipino American Stories of Healing
Over 15 Filipino American artists will be presented by The Thoughtful Beast and New Americans Museum in "Motions & Emotions: Filipino American Stories of Healing”. The event includes an art exhibit and three performances addressing Filipino American intergenerational trauma.
Attendees of the event will experience an array of artistic mediums including painting, rap, dance and embroidery. The art is united by the topic of Filipino American intergenerational trauma, but also the artists choosing to be vulnerable and their desires for healing.

To understand something as complex as the American experience of war in Iraq and Afghanistan it is useful to listen to many perspectives. Join our ZOOM Artist talk with Matt Mitchell who will be reflecting on his work culminating in the 100 Faces of War exhibition in an informal conversation with Museum Exec Director, Linda Sotelo via zoom.
The 100 Faces exhibition shows a cross-section of Americans who went to wars between 2001 and 2014. Each person met the artist and was asked to say something about themselves. They could say whatever they wanted. The statement they provided and their bio represent that moment in their personal history.
Voices of Hope: Holocaust Survivors Share Their Stories ft. Dr. Edith Eger

In a time of unknowns during the Covid-19 pandemic, hear from Holocaust survivor, trauma expert and NY times best selling author Dr. Eger about her story of survival and resilience and her strategies for coping through uncertain times.
Dr. Edith Eger was 16 when she and her family were sent to the concentration camp Auschwitz. Born in Hungary and now 91 and living in La Jolla, Dr. Edger wrote her international bestselling book The Choice: Embrace the Possible at 90.
Dr. Eger is a prolific author and a member of several professional associations. She has a clinical practice in La Jolla, California and holds a faculty appointment at the University of California, San Diego. She has appeared on numerous television programs including CNN and the Oprah Winfrey Show; and was the primary subject of a holocaust documentary that appeared on Dutch National Television. She is frequently invited to speaking engagements throughout the United States and abroad.
